    SPED Autism Specialist (Special Education)

    Location: Sterling, VA 20165
    Duration: 46-Week Contract
    Schedule: Monday–Friday | 07:00 AM – 02:45 PM
    Weekly Hours: 7.75 hours/day


    Position Overview

    We are seeking a dedicated Special Education (SPED) Professional – Autism to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a structured educational setting. This role focuses on delivering instructional and behavioral support, implementing IEPs, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic and social development.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide instructional and behavioral support to students with ASD
    • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom accommodations
    • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and parents
    • Support development of academic, communication, social, and life skills
    • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
    • Apply positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques
    • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
    • Assist with daily routines and student transitions
    • Participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred)
    • Valid Virginia Special Education License/Certification (or eligibility as required)
    • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (preferred)
    • Strong knowledge of IEP implementation and special education practices
    • Effective classroom management and behavior intervention skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
    • Patient, compassionate, and student-focused approach
