Position Summary
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides general support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role is responsible for performing a variety of specimen processing functions with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to quality standards. The position requires strong data entry skills, organizational abilities, flexibility, and a commitment to compliance and customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform specimen processing duties, including:
- A-station processing
- Presorting specimens
- Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory
- Imaging and microfilming
- Centrifugation
- Aliquoting specimens
- Accurately enter and process specimen and test information.
- Learn and understand specimen types and testing requirements.
- Maintain compliance with changing test-ordering regulations and procedures.
- Meet departmental productivity, quality, and turnaround-time standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in response to changing priorities and customer needs.
