Job Title: Specimen Technician- 3rd Shift Job Location: Greensboro, NC Job Duration: 3 Months of contract Shift: Monday- Friday (9:00 PM – 5:30 AM EST) Position Summary: The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. The SPT I plays a critical role in ensuring specimen integrity, accuracy, and timely processing to support high-quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Perform general support functions including: A-station processing Presorting specimens Pickup and delivery of processed specimens Imaging/microfilming Centrifugation and aliquoting Ensure all tasks are completed with accuracy, efficiency, and within established turnaround times Maintain a high level of organization while handling multiple specimen types and test requirements Accurately perform high-volume data entry (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour) Follow all safety, compliance, and regulatory guidelines, including adapting to frequent updates Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Communicate effectively with team members and other departments Demonstrate flexibility to meet changing workflow demands and customer needs Work Environment & Requirements: Production-based laboratory environment with emphasis on productivity and quality standards Exposure to biohazard materials; adherence to safety protocols required Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Must be available for night shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required Required Skills & Knowledge: Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic work environment Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing Familiarity with medical terminology Previous laboratory, hospital, or production environment experience
