  • Systems Research: Investigate and recommend cutting-edge materials, building systems, and construction methods that optimize performance, durability, and LEED/sustainability goals.

  • Interdisciplinary Synergy: Collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with architects, designers, and engineers to refine technical requirements and ensure a seamless transition from design intent to physical reality.

  • Standard Stewardship: Manage and evolve the firm’s master specifications and internal standards, continuously refining workflows to enhance technical accuracy and efficiency.

  • Regulatory Authority: Ensure all documentation maintains strict compliance with ADA, life safety codes, and local building regulations across diverse jurisdictions.

  • Vendor Strategy: Partner with manufacturers and vendors to evaluate product performance, balancing innovative aesthetics with practical, long-term application.

  • Constructability Advisory: Participate in high-level design meetings to provide expert guidance on materials and constructability, making a tangible impact on real-world project outcomes.

  • Quality Control: Stay at the forefront of industry codes, CSI standards, and evolving architectural trends to keep the team positioned as a technical leader in the AEC space.

  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in architectural specifications writing within a professional A/E firm environment.

  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of MasterSpec, CSI MasterFormat, and industry-standard specification production software (e.g., BSD SpecLink).

  • Technical Literacy: Exceptional ability to interpret complex architectural drawings, BIM models (Revit), and technical construction documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: CSI Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) or Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) strongly preferred.
