Job Description Summary The primary purpose of this position is oversight of the Asheville- Buncombe- Madison ABM Works high school pre-apprentices and act as the liaison between the educational economic and business industry partnership for Asheville-Buncombe-Madison Works. The Workforce Development Specialist WDS will work with business and industry to determine employment needs and coordinate efforts to place student pre-apprentices in work-based learning experiences such as internships and apprenticeships.

Duties • Facilitates and coordinates business industry education meetings overseeing recruitment and retention both of students and business partners. • Develops relationships with students and families to guide students to success. • Coordinates and oversees support services. • Contributes to the College Vision Mission Values and RISE statement. • Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements

  1. Must have a minimum of an Associate degree.
  2. Must have one year of full-time or equivalent educational administrative or other relevant leadership experience.
  3. Must have experience working in a school system.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Career development or other related experience.
  2. Experience working with high school students.
  3. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
