Overview

Schedule & Location

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Rotating late shift until 7:00 PM
  • Rotating Saturday shift from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Riley Pediatrics Muncie

Position Overview

This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and is critical to delivering an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities include patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling appointments, answering phones, medical records management, and maintaining accurate demographic and financial information to support patient care and reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service, communication, and computer skills, along with the ability to learn and retain complex insurance and registration processes.

Top Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to patients and visitors
  • Answer incoming calls and appropriately direct patients and visitors
  • Register patients accurately, including insurance verification and demographic updates
  • Check patients in and out for appointments
  • Schedule appointments for six physicians
  • Maintain medical records, including scanning and documentation
  • Explain department/hospital policies and charges
  • Collaborate closely with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care and operations

Benchmarks for Success

3 Months

  • Demonstrate progress learning registration and insurance processes
  • Perform duties with some oversight and guidance

6 Months

  • Independently complete patient registration processes
  • Effectively manage scheduling responsibilities with minimal oversight

1 Year

  • Demonstrate mastery of front-office functions
  • Adapt confidently to changing processes and responsibilities
  • Serve as a reliable and knowledgeable member of the team

Skills for Success

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Prefer relevant experience in a health care setting.
  • Ability to learn and retain medical coding; ICD-10; CPT coding preferred.
  • Requires ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Previous medical office experience
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and healthcare registration processes
