Job Description

Overview

Position Overview

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Flexibility is required to remain later if patients are still in the office.

Location:

West Hospital - Professional Center

Primary Responsibilities

  • Patient check‑out support across all service lines
  • Reviewing and completing Pool messages
  • Chart preparation and pre‑registration
  • Processing and reviewing EMG reports
  • Co‑pay collection and posting
  • Facilitating patient flow from point of entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Obtaining and entering accurate demographic, insurance, and financial information to support maximum reimbursement and clinical outcomes
  • Scheduling appointments and interviewing patients to obtain appropriate medical information
  • Explaining department and hospital charges, policies, and procedures
  • Answering incoming calls and directing patients and visitors appropriately
  • Collaborating closely with multiple service lines to support clinic operations

This is a close‑knit team environment and requires strong teamwork and communication skills.

Success Looks Like

  • First 3 Months:

  • Comfortable completing basic check‑out tasks

  • Familiar with service line nuances and workflows

  • By 6 Months:

  • Confident completing all additional assigned duties

  • Established strong workflow and collaboration with teammates

Skills for Success

  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced clinical environment

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Experience or willingness to learn the following systems:

  • Cerner

  • RightFax

  • QMedet

  • IDX

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to retain information

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Relevant experience in a healthcare setting preferred

  • Ability to learn and retain medical coding

  • ICD‑10 and CPT coding knowledge preferred

  • Ability to interpret insurance information

  • Knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
