Position Summary:
Responsible for concurrent review of inpatient medical records to identify documentation issues and opportunities for improving the quality of physician documentation. Identifies missing diagnoses and procedures, inappropriate terminology and opportunities for more complete documentation. Facilitates clinical documentation improvement through extensive daily interaction with physicians, caregivers, care management and coding staff performing informal and formal education. Strives to achieve a complete medical record at patient discharge to insure accurate and compliant capture of patient acuity and severity levels that result in accurate reimbursement and accurate data to support quality indicators and other hospital metrics
Position Qualification:
Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Tennessee
3+ years acute care nursing experience
