Specialist Building Surveyor (Repairs)
Location: Berkshire
Rate: £350 Per Day
Working Pattern: 4 days on-site, 1 day remote
Contract Length: Interim Contract
Spencer Clarke Group are a supporting a public sector housing client to appoint an Interim Specialist Building Surveyor (Repairs) to bolster a busy property repairs and inspection function.
This is a hands-on role with a strong site presence, completing multiple inspections per day, producing clear technical reports, and driving follow-on works with contractors and internal teams. The postholder will also support damp and mould activity and contribute to housing disrepair cases (including report writing and familiarity with Scott schedules).
Responsibilities include:
- Completing 3 to 4 property inspections per day, including urgent and emergency visits
- Producing high-quality inspection reports, issuing to contractors, chasing progress, and completing sign-offs
- Diagnosing defects including damp, mould, structural issues, and complex repairs
- Reviewing structural reports and quotations, producing technical specifications where required
- Supporting damp and mould inspections using moisture meters and working to regulatory timescales
- Supporting disrepair casework, including reporting and understanding of Scott schedules
- Maintaining awareness of relevant legislation and compliance requirements (including asbestos safety)
About You:
- Strong background in housing repairs surveying / building surveying (public sector or social housing desirable)
- Confident producing clear technical reports and communicating with residents and contractors
- Experience with reactive repairs, damp and mould diagnostics, and contractor oversight
- Knowledge of housing disrepair processes is highly beneficial
