Primary Purpose:
Work with campus staff district-wide to develop and implement evidence-based behavior management strategies in classrooms and to provide specific behavior intervention supports to students. Assist campus staff in developing behavior improvement plans, positive behavior supports and classroom behavior management plans.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
- Bachelor''s degree in special education
- Master''s preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of specific evidence-based behavior interventions and strategies for all students
- Knowledge of how to provide services for students in alignment with students' individualized education programs
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Experience in professional development presentations
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents.
- Facilitate team meetings with campus staff for the purpose of developing student support plans, functional behavior assessments, or IEP goals and objectives.
- Consult teachers and principals with implementation of curriculum accommodations and/modifications
- Participate in pro-active team efforts with transportation department staff regarding behavior of students on buses.
- Work cooperatively with campus staff to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.
- Assists teachers in the development of materials to implement behavior plans for all students
- Consult with teachers in the use of appropriate data collection and documentation to measure student progress.
- Recommend and orders supplies for implementing behavior plans.
- Assists Coordinators in assessing the behavioral needs of students district-wide.
- Coordinates and implements support groups for parents of students with behavioral needs.
- Coordinates social skills curriculum development for students.
- Consults with principals, teachers and parents with problem resolution.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development by keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved instructional techniques.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Organizes and schedules time commitments to meet the demands of the job.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent or the deputy superintendent.
