The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Special Programs and Services Officer (Part‑Time) in the Police Department. The eligibility list may be used to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.VACANCY INFORMATIONThe position is a part‑time, non‑PERS eligible Special Programs and Services Officer supervising probationers and pre‑trial releasees, promoting accountability and rehabilitation while supporting community safety. Responsibilities include conducting interviews, investigations, managing pre‑trial and probation cases, administering DART (Drug and Alcohol Random Testing), and maintaining detailed case files.This is a part‑time, non‑PERS eligible position.This position does not qualify for employer‑paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation.This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement System (ARS).The work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours per week; hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department needs.May be required to work a flexible schedule, outside normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours.External candidates, probationary full‑time, part‑time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range.QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from high school or equivalent.One (1) year of continuous law enforcement experience as a commissioned officer such as a probation/offender officer, police officer, deputy sheriff, or state trooper.Possession of a valid Nevada or “border state” driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.Pass a nationwide fingerprint‑based record check and a wants/warrants check.Complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and recertify annually.Hold OEND (Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution) certification, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within sixty (60) days of hire.Hold a current Nevada Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Category I or II certificate at appointment.Meet the NAC 289.110 eligibility criteria (no felony convictions, no offenses involving moral turpitude or controlled substances, no documented history of physical violence).Desirable: College degree in a related field.DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATIONCompleted Employment Application.Resume.Current Nevada Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.)
