Compensation Range: $43,642 - $91,830 per year. Placement on the salary schedule is based on verified, comparable education and experience. For more information on range placement, please review the REA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Purpose of the Position:

The Teacher understands the central concepts, methods of inquiry, and structures of disciplines and creates learning experiences that make the content meaningful to all students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.

Plan, Prepare and Deliver Instructional Activities:

  • Facilitate active learning experiences
  • Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Uses a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies to meet and enhance the needs of a diverse student population
  • Considers equitable resources and equitable instructional practices to meet the needs of a diverse student population

Update and Maintain Records:

  • Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students

Demonstrate Effective Behavior Management Techniques:

  • Demonstrates a variety of effective behavior management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students, including those with disabilities
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with building expectations as well as the district's student code of conduct

Communicate with Students, Colleagues and Parents:

  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC)

Create Formative Assessments:

  • Create formative assessments aligned to district curriculum
  • Analyze student data from both formative and summative assessments to drive differentiated instruction and data-based decision making for students

Utilize Technology:

Qualifications:

Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications.

Working Conditions:

Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

  1. Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  2. Balancing - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  3. Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  4. Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
