Special Education Teacher Substitute 8-12 weeks East Falmouth Elementary 2026-2027 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS

  • REQUIRED: Massachusetts licensure Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities PreK-8.
  • Massachusetts licensure Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities (All optional).
  • SEI Teacher Endorsement (preferred).
  • Masters degree with an emphasis in Special Education (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience as a special education teacher of a substantially separate program.
  • Safety Care CPR and First Aid certification (preferred) or willingness to be certified/trained.
  • Experience with the use of specialized teaching techniques used with special education students.
  • Ability to design or modify curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments for students with disabilities.
  • Ability to implement behavioral management strategies.
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools/Director of Student Services may deem acceptable and appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer score and analyze formal and informal data to be utilized in special education eligibility determination and individualized education program development.
  • Work with other special needs staff, specialists, and administrative personnel in developing educational programs for special education students.
  • Work in concert with members of the evaluation TEAM to develop and write reasonably calculated Individualized Educational Programs.
  • Complete evaluation and progress reports, educational plan information, and other data required by local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Responsible for ongoing diagnostic/prescriptive programming for children with disabilities.
  • Assist general education teachers in the implementation of modifications for inclusionary practices.
  • Guide and direct teaching assistants to facilitate programming for students.
  • Support inclusionary practices to ensure student participation is in the least restrictive environment.
  • Actively engage as a partner in the Instructional Support Team process to support our multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS).
  • Continue to grow in the position through attendance at meetings, conferences, seminars, through readings in professional literature, and through enrollment in college or university courses.
  • Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal, Asst. Principal, and/or Special Education Building Administrator.

SALARY In accordance with FPS Substitute Rates.
