Marblehead Public Schools seeks a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to lead an Integrated PreK Classroom serving students ages 3-5 years old. Key Responsibilities
Student Learning & Instruction
- Provide individualized, whole group and small-group specialized instruction aligned with students' IEPs and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for PREK.
- Design and implement engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic achievement and social-emotional development.
- Create a structured, predictable, and supportive learning environment that promotes self-regulation, resilience, and student independence.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices to support diverse learning needs.
Social-Emotional & Behavioral Support
- Utilize trauma-informed, restorative, and developmentally appropriate approaches to support student success.
- Employ proactive de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention techniques when needed.
- Foster students' social-emotional competencies, including self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and social awareness.
- Collect and analyze behavioral and social-emotional data to inform instruction and intervention planning, if needed.
IEP Development & Progress Monitoring
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, academic performance, and behavioral growth.
- Prepare reports and participate in Team meetings, evaluations, and annual reviews.
Collaboration & School Community
- Contribute positively to a collaborative school culture grounded in inclusion, belonging, and high expectations for all students.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families to build strong home-school partnerships.
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, school counselors, behavior specialists, administrators, and families to provide comprehensive student support.
- Supervise and support educational support professionals in implementing instructional and behavioral interventions.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district, state, and federal regulations, including FERPA.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
