About the Role
Adeline Montessori is seeking a compassionate, student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated team. This role is responsible for providing individualized instruction, designing and implementing IEPs, and supporting students with diverse learning needs in inclusive and specialized educational settings for students 4th grade through 6th grade.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Support
Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Use evidence-based instructional strategies to support academic, behavioral, social, and functional skill development.
Deliver instruction in inclusive settings, resource rooms, or self-contained classrooms as assigned.
Modify curriculum and assessments to meet individual needs.
IEP Development & Compliance
Lead IEP meetings and collaborate with families, general education teachers, service providers, and administrators.
Write compliant, data-driven IEPs, including goals, accommodations, and modifications.
Monitor progress toward IEP goals and communicate updates to families regularly.
Maintain all documentation in accordance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching when appropriate.
Participate in problem-solving teams, professional learning communities, and staff meetings.
Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, behavior, and classroom supports.
Behavioral & Social-Emotional Support
Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
Develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.
Support students' social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and functional skills.
Professional Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records and complete all required reports on time.
Engage in ongoing professional development related to special education law, instructional strategies, and best practices.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
Valid Special Education teaching license/certification (e.g., Cross-Categorical, LD, EBD, CD, or equivalent).
Knowledge of IDEA, FAPE, and state special education regulations.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and teams.
