What You'll Do
Elementary School teachers are responsible for preparing all students for personal and academic success. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a high-quality program for all students. The elementary teacher will effectively manage a partnership with families, including regular communication, informing of students' success towards mastering content and personal learning habits. The elementary teachers will participate in ongoing professional learning to deepen knowledge of rigorous, engaging curriculum and pedagogy in both academic content and social-emotional learning.
Role Responsibilities
- Analyze data to inform instruction and improve student performance
- Work collaboratively in environments, including co-teaching and intensive skills development
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions, plan curriculum, collect data, and create Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for students
- Certification in Wilson Orton Gillingham, LiPS, or other phonics-based reading programs
- Experience implementing reading comprehension programs
- Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technology, to increase student learning and confidence
- Prepare students for success on state testing
- Modify and adapt materials and instructional lessons to meet the specific needs of students
- Provide classroom staff with resources, tools, and modeling of techniques
- Present evidence of student progress toward goals and objectives through regular progress reports and team meetings
- Offer activities and instruction that will allow students of all levels to successfully engage in instruction using the Common Core standards as a framework

Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Masters Degree preferred
- Required Massachusetts teaching certification, licensure, in Special Education, Moderate Disabilities, Pre-K-8 licensure, and Elementary Education, Grades 1-6
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement Required within 1 year of start date
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
- Proven track record of raising student achievement scores in an urban turnaround environment, highly desired
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Proficiency with technology, blended learning, teacher-family communication suites, Remind, preferred Google G-Suite, Apps, etc.
- Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice
- Dual certification is a plus
- Second language, Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency, a plus
