TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school districts throughout Texas to provide individualized educational support for students with a wide range of learning needs. We are currently seeking Certified Special Education Teachers for school-based opportunities in Houston and surrounding communities.
These positions are ideal for educators who are committed to inclusive learning and want to help students make meaningful academic, social, and personal progress through specialized instruction.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, you will plan and deliver individualized instruction while working closely with campus teams and families to support each student’s educational needs.
In this role, you will:
Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs in accordance with student needs and required timelines
Provide specialized instruction based on students’ learning profiles, academic levels, and educational goals
Modify curriculum, assignments, classroom materials, and teaching methods to improve accessibility and participation
Use assessments, classroom observations, and progress data to guide instructional decisions
Adjust lessons and interventions based on student performance and changing needs
Support students’ academic achievement, social development, emotional well-being, and independence
Incorporate assistive technology, visual supports, and other instructional resources when appropriate
Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, campus staff, and families
Participate in ARD and IEP meetings and contribute to the development and review of measurable student goals
Maintain complete and accurate service records, progress reports, and required special education documentation
Qualifications for This Position
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
Current and valid Texas Special Education teaching certification
Strong knowledge of IEP procedures, differentiated instruction, and school-based special education services
Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary team members
Strong classroom leadership, communication, organization, and time-management skills
Master’s degree is preferred
Previous experience teaching in a school-based special education setting is a plus
