POSITION: Special Education Teacher (Full Time)
SALARY SCHEDULE: Based on Years' Experience / Certified Salary Position
NUMBER OF CONTRACTED WORKDAYS: 12 Month Agreement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Valid Indiana Educator's Teacher's License and Special Education Certification
REPORTS TO:
Corporate Director of Special Education
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 Years in Education
- Experience Writing Individual Education Plans
- Experience Writing Transition Plans
- Self-Motivated and Willingness to Continue Professional Development
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge & Skills to provide Monthly Virtual Training for students (Executive Functioning Skills, Organization, Career Exploration, Problem Solving, Time Management)
- Participate in virtual APD planning to offer additional support of Special Education Students
- Ability to follow IDOE protocol to maintain compliance with Individual Education Plans. (Trained in PowerSchool Special Programs)
- Oversee the tracking, dissemination, and proper implementation of IEP.
- Oversee mandated accommodations for all state assessments.
PERFORMANCE/PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scheduling and execute all case conferences (Annual, Move-In, Initials, Reevaluations, Manifestations, etc.)
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner and maintain compliance at all times.
- Write and track Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Plan & Create student diploma tracks to align with IEP Transition Plan.
- Attend Meetings (in-person, or virtual) to support staff with IEP questions or behavioral suggestions.
- Execute Weekly Virtual Resource Room
- Complete quarterly Progress Monitoring of IEP Goals.
- Review Present Levels and gather new data prior to writing Annual Case Conferences.
PROGRAMMING:
- Attend and Participate in Response To Intervention Meetings.
- Monitor IEP's, update, and hold meeting prior to compliance dates.
- Follow Special Education Processes as defined by Director of Special Education.
- Implement accommodations to align with Individualized Education Plans.
- Travel and assist at APD sites.
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Work directly with parents, as needed, to answer questions and ensure that all students are in their Least Restrictive Environment.
- Provide consultation and course guidance with Student Learning Advocate to ensure student school success.
- Participate in staff meetings to review Behavior Intervention Plans, and IEP's with each campus.
- Attend and participate in Special Education Meeting.
- Assist students with Building Community Relationships for Career Exploration Experiences, Job Shadowing, and Student Internships.
