Duties

To instruct Special Education Students who have Emotional Disabilities at the Secondary Grade levels.

Responsibilities and Duties

Adheres to the Board of Education policies and procedures.

Strives to implement by the performance of job responsibilities the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the time designated.

Plans a program of study within the curriculum that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.

Makes adequate preparation for daily instruction including plans for substitutes.

Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like enabling communication of these objectives to students.

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity interests of the students.

Reports suspected child abuseneglect cases as required by statute and district policy.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.

Assists in the identification and evaluation of students in the appropriate area of exceptionality.

Participates in all MDCIEP conferences recommended by the case manager.

Completes required components of case study evaluation.

Consults with standard program teachers when student is integrated.

Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Monitors progress of students on transition plan.

Meets as required and within reason with students parents andor consultants.

Attends staff meetings and in-service meetings as reasonably required.

Attends PTA meetings as reasonably designated by the building principal.

Coordinates and supervises services of any aide assigned to the classroom.

Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Meets accepted standards of The Professional Code of Ethics.

Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and is responsible for the maintenance of student discipline in the classroom in accordance with school board policy.

Participates on building district or Moline Education Association committees.

Performs other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the principal or designee that the employee is qualified to perform.

Qualifications

Must hold an Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBS1 Endorsement.

Salary Benefits

2026-2027 SY

Placed as appropriate on the Teachers Salary Schedule. base- 48324.
