    Summary

    We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and behavioral support for students with diverse educational needs. This role is ideal for an educator who believes every student can succeed through differentiated instruction, collaboration, and relationship-based teaching.

    Working alongside a transdisciplinary team of educators and specialists, you will develop and implement standards-based instruction, foster a structured learning environment, and support students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth.

    What You'll Do

    • Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
    • Create structured unit plans and engaging daily lessons based on student needs and abilities.
    • Differentiate instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies.
    • Modify curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to support individual student success.
    • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
    • Create a safe, organized, and supportive classroom environment.
    • Implement positive behavior intervention strategies while maintaining student dignity and respect.
    • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, psychologists, administrators, and related service providers.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and student planning.
    • Supervise and provide instructional direction to classroom assistants.
    • Maintain accurate records, reports, progress monitoring, attendance, and required documentation.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, district personnel, and outside agencies.
    • Participate in crisis intervention and physical restraint procedures in accordance with required training.
    • Participate in professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
    • Follow all policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Experience You'll Need

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
    • Appropriate Illinois Professional Educator License PEL LBS1.
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
    • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and evidence-based teaching practices.
    • Strong classroom management and positive behavior intervention skills.
    • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary teams.
    • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical decision-making.
