Special Education Teacher - Case Coordinator
Illinois Professional Educators License w/ an LBS1 Endorsement required. Job Focus: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Line of Supervision: Responsible to and evaluated by Principal and/or Coordinator of Special Education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Regularly meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, consistent with physical limitations of the individual.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Strives to establish and maintain cooperative relations with district personnel.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through participation in; but, not limited to workshops, college course work and seminars.
- Guards the confidentiality of all information placed in charge of this office. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal.
- Perform such other duties assigned by the Principal, Coordinator of Special Education, or Superintendent of Schools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Teachers' Certificate, with a special education endorsement, registered in Cook County in present year.
- Earned a College Education with proper subject area/educational background.
- Experiences/qualifications as deemed necessary by the Board of Education.
Terms of Employment: School Calendar Year. Salary and work year to be according to contractual agreement.
