POSITION DESCRIPTION

Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, positive and effective teacher of students with Multiple Impairments. This teacher will be successful in utilizing best practices for supporting students and will need to be highly collaborative, an effective communicator, both verbal and written.

Salary:Per HVEA contract

Reports To: Student Support Service Supervisor, Principal

Start Date: 8/25/2026

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold a valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate
  • Special Education endorsement in Cognitive Impairments or Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Certification in non-violent crisis intervention training required, or willingness to be trained

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • To effectively provide instruction to students on an Individualized Education Plan
  • To effectively communicate in writing and verbally with students, staff and families
  • To progress monitor student growth on IEP goals and essential elements. To then report data to families and provide grades
  • To be engaged while attending building and department meetings
  • To be a learner of your content and other school related topics as to benefit students
  • Ability to work independently and also with a team
  • Knowledge of legal mandates regarding provision of services
  • Knowledge of classroom instruction interventions and behavioral management techniques
  • Knowledge of resources and agencies providing services to students
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community, staff, etc.
  • Ability to problem solve and provide assistance in areas requiring conflict resolution
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Respect for confidentiality and integrity
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Professionalism and strong work ethic

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree or higher.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
