QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Wisconsin DPI certified as a Special Education teacher. Preference will be given to candidates certified in grades EC-12.

  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience.

  • Must be knowledgeable in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support, Functional Behavior Assessment, all disability categories, Seclusion and Restraint, and Multi-Level Systems of Support

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting and coaching special education teachers and the onboarding and training of new special education staff.

  • Provide individual and team consultation in the areas of behavior support, instructional methods, curriculum, assessment, and disability knowledge.

  • Conduct Special Education Evaluations and IEP meetings and write IEP's

  • Knowledge of IDEA. Support compliance with IDEA and communication of DPI and District procedures and requirements.

  • Preparing and presenting professional training for Special Education professionals and general education staff.

  • Providing instruction and modeling instruction for students in non-traditional settings (i.e. homebound) or during crisis

  • Collaborate with general education teachers and departments, as well as administrators on student concerns, best practices, and interpretation of IEP's

SECONDARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be familiar with the district and statewide assessments. Provide strategies to assist parents/guardians in working with their children.

  • Attend/facilitate building-level special education department meetings.

  • Serve on and attend district-wide committee meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
