The School District of Tomahawk has a part-time Special Education Paraprofessional position working with students with disabilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures.

Assist with the instruction of emotionally/behaviorally disabled students or students with autism, individually and in small groups.

Provide assistance with the preparation of instructional materials and provide supervision and instructional assistance with special education students.

Perform clerical tasks, which may include monitoring online coursework, data collection, and progress monitoring.

Assist with the supervision of students both in school and community settings.

Participate in non-violent crisis intervention training

Guide student independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as set up and assigned by the special education and classroom teachers

Treat all students, staff, parents, and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion, and patience.

Encourage and model appropriate behavior.

Provide behavioral management support- i.e. supervise breaks, manage conflicts between students, enforce class and school rules, provide close supervision, and motivate students.

Provide individual trooping, small and large group supervision, observation reports, practice, and guide lessons introduced by the teacher

Willingness to obtain DPI licensing

Able to work cooperatively and independently

Possess solid reading, math, technology, and oral and written communication skills

Physical mobility to assist with student lifts, crisis intervention, and movement in the educational environment

Desire to actively participate in ongoing training to become an integral part of an educational team

Under the direct supervision of the special education teacher, implement strategies, supports, procedures, and routines.
