Title: SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent

Reports To: Building Principal & Director of Special Services

Performance Responsibilities:

Special education paraprofessionals will assist in the delivery of educational services prescribed by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) under the direction of a certified teacher to meet instructional goals and objectives. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting students in achieving academic success
• Follow the directives of the special education teacher or related services personnel.
• Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students.
• Monitor students' behavior for the special education teacher.
• Prepare materials for instruction.
• Assist in remediation programs.
• Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, and other related non-instructional areas.
• Follow district policy and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services, the building principal or superintendent.

Terms of Employment: Wage and length of contract to be determined by the Board.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of support personnel.
