Bullitt Central High School is searching for a highly motivated, positive, and dedicated team member to join our Cougar family. This role is vital in supporting our certified teachers to provide high-quality instruction, monitor student progress, and enhance the overall educational experience for students with special needs.

Position Details

Hours: 6.5 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length: 183 days per year

  • 170 student instructional days
  • 4 holidays
  • 7 planning days
  • 2 extended days

Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status: Full-time with benefits

Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified salary schedule.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Must meet one of the following:
  • 48 college semester hours
  • An Associate's Degree OR
  • High school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.
  • Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

Compensation & Experience Credit

2026-2027 pay scale

Step 0: $16.46 per hour

Step 10: $20.26 per hour

Previous experience working with students is strongly desired.

  • Experience Credit: New employees may transfer up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.
  • Note: It is the employee's responsibility to submit the BCPS Verification of Experience form to previous employers.

Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate <|> Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. <|> Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
