ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Designs and delivers professional learning focused on literacy instruction for students with disabilities, including explicit instruction, scaffolding, and intensive intervention.
Provides job-embedded coaching, modeling, and feedback to special educators, general educators, instructional assistants, and related service providers.
Supports the development and implementation of specially designed instruction aligned to individual student needs, IEP goals, and present levels of performance.
Assists teams in identifying appropriate evidence-based interventions for students with disabilities and those suspected of having disabilities; Supports decisions related to instructional intensity, frequency, duration, and progress monitoring.
Facilitates data discussions using screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and outcome data to inform instruction and intervention.
Supports educators in developing literacy lesson plans that reflect specially designed instruction and individualized supports; Model lessons that demonstrate effective SDI, including explicit instruction, systematic practice, and generalization of skills
Collaborates with district leadership to support system-wide special education literacy initiatives and improvement efforts.
Communicates regularly with supervisors, principals, reading specialists, coordinators about reading related issues and literacy policy in CCPS
Liaison with the curriculum department/ reading specialist to attend meetings and bring back pertinent information to special education
Assists Carroll Springs School with literacy initiatives, data meetings and professional learning
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required
Valid special education certification and/or reading or literacy specialist certification
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in special education, literacy, or related field preferred
Demonstrated experience providing literacy instruction and intervention for students with disabilities
Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and specially designed instruction
Experience providing professional learning, instructional coaching, and modeling
Preferred
Experience working with students ages birth through 21, including early intervention and transition programs
Knowledge of evidence-based reading and writing practices for students with disabilities
Experience facilitating IEP-aligned data discussions and MTSS implementation
Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and protocol.
Ability to demonstrate outstanding human relations and interpersonal communication skills in communicating with CCPS employees, other organizations, and the general public.
Ability to demonstrate competency in business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and the ability to compute salaries and other similar mathematics.
Ability to prepare and accurately maintain complex reports, files, and records.
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
Ability to operate computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes.
