Special Education Facilitator

The position of a Special Education Facilitator will be available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 p.m., July 03, 2026, or until the position is filled.

Primary Purpose: Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist teachers in identifying and coordinating the instructional program that relates to the student's individual needs and instructional levels according to current IEP's and modifications made by the ARD Committee.
  • Review student progress through analysis of grades, attendance, discipline referrals, state assessment-related activities, and IEPs.
  • Collaborate with the team to assist with functional behavior assessments and the creation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Assist with the science of behavior as well as district Tier II and Tier III behavior interventions including data collection, analyzing behavior data, and adjusting individual behavior plans.
  • Using multiple sources of data to develop appropriate individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Assist teachers in developing strategies for implementing the IEP/Behavior Plans for students with disabilities.
  • Participate in the ARD Committee process, serving as an administrative designee when needed.
  • Diffuse conflict and find appropriate solutions in ARD meetings.
  • Provide guidance and orientation for new special education staff members.
  • Keep informed and comply with federal, state, district, and school laws, regulations, and policies regarding special education as well as classroom teachers.
  • Assist with the coordination of district and statewide testing.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, material, and facilities.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, and staff in order to coordinate student needs.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required such as Eduphoria, ESPED, Medicaid billing, and other files as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the campus leadership team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Five years of teaching experience in special education

Special Education Certification

EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.
