The Neenah Joint School District is accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Special Education Educational Assistant - Instructional Support at Tullar Elementary School, for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate professional committed to supporting student success and access to the educational environment to start August 26, 2026. Must hold or be eligible for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) certification Special Education Program Aide License prior to your start date.

The Special Education Educational Assistant will provide instructional support, and perform clerical and supervisory tasks as they relate to the needs of children with disabilities. This position may also be required to assist with the special needs of physically impaired students. The specific responsibilities will vary depending on the student's disability and the individual needs of the students assigned to the special education teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide supportive individual and small group instruction.
  • Assist individual students in following directions of the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher with supervision in the school, on the playground, on field trips, and on school buses.
  • Assist in maintaining behavior control of children who may need to be closely monitored.
  • Ability to work with students using a virtual platform
  • Prepare AV materials, bulletin boards, etc.
  • File and record attendance information.
  • Type and duplicate instructional materials.
  • Make routine telephone contacts.
  • Operate AV equipment.
  • Successfully working with students with disabilities and a strong desire to do so.
  • Applying current trends in the field of behavior interventions and support.
  • Utilizing standardized assessment tools.
  • Effectively collaborating with a team.
  • Must have effective problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Constructively communicating with parents/guardians and team members.
  • Preparation and commitment to working effectively with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of social and emotional learning instruction to students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • DPI License in Special Education Program Aide License.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Three years of college coursework or three years of experience supervising youth activities, or a combination of college coursework and experience supervising youth activities equivalent to three years.
  • Teacher Educational Assistant course work is desirable.
  • Mandatory Reporting Training required.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
