Essential Duties and Performance Responsibilities

  • Assist Special Education Coordinators with clerical tasks such as coordination of meetings, follow-up calls and meeting preparation (both paper and electronic documentation)
  • Perform routine checks and comparisons of reports or records for compliance with specific program requirements
  • Prepare and complete mailing process of student records or correspondence
  • Coordinate transportation paperwork between special education coordinators and the special education administrative assistant
  • Prepare and process record requests from other schools for student records
  • Must effectively use SchoolBrains and eSped platforms - (Student Information Systems) to monitor Special Education students
  • Participate in department and program trainings and meetings (on-site and off-site)
  • Communicate effectively and timely with the Special Education Coordinators
  • Facilitate successful monitoring and completion of compliance checklists of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as meetings occur
  • Assist Special Education Coordinators in strict adherence to timelines
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services

Physical Demands Vision - Must be able to prepare and read documents and use a computer and other office equipment on a daily basis. Auditory and Verbal Communication - Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently by telephone and in person. Physical Abilities - Performing this position requires extended sitting, standing and use of a computer and other school office equipment.

Extended Concentration, Excellent Recall Abilities and the Ability to Remain Calm in Stressful Situations - These capabilities are an important part of properly fulfilling the requirements of this position. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Clerical/Office experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs
  • Knowledge of eSped and SchoolBrains, preferred but will train
  • Ability to travel to multiple school sites, as needed
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle complex projects, and attuned to complex problem solving
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of web-based work applications, the google platform, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work independently
  • Remains calm, uses good judgement, and adheres to policies
  • Ability to work in a team environment and develop cooperative and harmonious workplace relations
