QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and a willingness to be certified in special education. Financial support is provided to those candidates who follow district/state stipulations for certification.
  • Preference is given to candidates that are Wisconsin DPI certified in Special Education Cross-Categorical or Emotional Behavioral Disabilities, and/or Learning Disabilities, and/or Intellectual Disabilities, middle childhood to early adolescence.
  • Knowledge and experience working with disabilities in all categories.
  • Must be able to show previous students' successes.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to work with various learning styles, relate to a wide variety of individuals, possess a good concept of inclusion, co-teaching, and a focus on the future academic, social, and emotional needs of students with an IEP. Must be knowledgeable in the IEP process. Must be able to work as a team player with teachers, support staff, administration, parents, and community agencies. Excellent communication skills are essential. Knowledge and experience in working toward the inclusion of Special Education students in regular classrooms providing the needed levels of support. Knowledge/experience with full inclusion/content mastery programs and social skills. Ability to work with other staff to create the best possible learning environment. Trained or willing to be trained and able to serve on the CPI non-violent crisis intervention team.
