THE POSITION
- Support students with a wide range of learning, emotional, and/or physical disabilities.
- Follow Individualized Education Plan of all students with special needs
- Communicate IEP, 504, and ELL plans to staff
- Work with teachers to implement modifications and accommodations
- Assess students' skills to determine needs
- Track student progress and discuss with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
- Work with partner school teachers of record to meet student needs
- Coordinate with Student Services Coordinator to schedule students with special needs
- Teach and mentor students in small groups or one-on-one
- Work with administration to train and schedule instructional assistants in appropriate locations
- Assist with administration to provide special education professional development to staff
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Indiana Teaching License in Special Education
- Successful experience in a Special Education setting preferred
- Ability to develop rapport and demonstrate professionalism with high school students, parents, staff and the community
- Flexibility and the ability to address situations as they arise
- Polished image
- Strong written, verbal, and technical skills
