Duties

Primary Functions (Job Goal)

Oversee Special Education services at the Elementary level which includes the K-4 Self-Contained Instructional Program. Provide support to staff who provide services to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Qualifications

Qualifications / Local Requirements

  1. A Bachelor's Degree in an educationally related field is required for this position, Master's preferred.

  2. Illinois Professional Educator License with Endorsements:Learning Behavior Specialist I required, General Administration/Principal preferred.

  3. A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience at the K-5 Level.

  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  5. Knowledge, skills, and experience in research-based instructional practices.

  6. Experience mentoring or serving in a capacity as a teacher leader, with desire for continued leadership opportunities.

  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to facilitate teams; ability to work well with administrators, teachers, and students.

  8. Ability and willingness to work independently and team situations in flexible environments with short timeline requirements while being effective.

  9. Ability to develop respect and rapport with colleagues as an educator who embraces the continuous improvement cycle; is supportive of the development of other educators; and is student learning focused.

  10. Passage of pre-employment medical examination, including Tuberculosis (TB) test and any other job specific required medical testing.

  11. Pass a Regional Office of Education Fingerprint based Background Clearance including Federal Bureau of Investigation.

  12. Alternatives to the above qualifications that the Board finds appropriate and acceptable may be approved.

Essential Duties and Performance Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, physical demands and working conditions required of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Coordinate programs, specifically the K-4 Self-Contained Instructional program in Troy 30-C along with the resource setting at the elementary buildings.

  2. Coordinate and participate in IEP staffings and annual reviews and facilitate the compilation of documentation for student records.

  3. Understand and monitor compliance with IDEA regulations.

  4. Provide continuous Professional Development to staff as needed with a focus on research based instructional practices.

  5. Research, plan and coordinate in-service training for Special Education Teachers, teaching assistants and other staff members as needed.

  6. Provide ongoing communication with staff and building leaders.

  7. Work collaboratively in a flexible environment across five (5) buildings.

  8. Inform the Director of Special Education of student progress and program development.

  9. Demonstrate support for the Mission, Beliefs and Goals of District 30-C.

  10. Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations and administrative procedures.

  11. Demonstrate professionalism and contribute to a positive work environment.

  12. Perform other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Salary/Benefits

Term of Employment

190 days

Non-Union

Completion of mandated training through Global Compliance Network within 45 days of start date.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation, the Performance Evaluation Reform Act of 2010 (PERA), Senate Bill 7, and Articles 24A and 34 of the Illinois School Code.
