Special Education Assistants are required to obtain a Special Education Program License which may be acquired through the Mosinee School District at no cost to the employee. Assistants are also required to complete training in CPR and First Aid certification, and CPI training as scheduled by the district, which is at no cost to the employee. It is essential that the candidate maintain strict confidentiality in regard to school related information.

POSITION TITLE: Special Education Assistant

29 hours per week

Brief Description of Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

> High level of patience and an even-temperament in approaching events

> Ability to work with staff in a collaborative environment.

> Ability to work with students with special needs

> Ability to communicate with clear written and verbal prompts

> Ability to use different types of technology devices

> Ability to assist with bathroom, feeding, and self-care needs including lifting tasks

The individual must be:

A confidential person who presents a positive school image at all times;

Flexible and willing to accept assigned tasks;

Maintain strict confidentiality in regard to student and school related information;

Willing to obtain or possess a Special Education Program Aide license.

Education:

Required: High School diploma

Desired: Post-secondary coursework in caring for and educating students

Work Experience:

Required: Positive experience working with students

Desired: Experience working with individuals with disabilities
