Primary Purpose
Help special education teacher provide for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting. Assist in implementation of classroom programs including self-help behavior management and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.
Qualifications
Education
- Associates degree: two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment requirements.
- Educational Aide Certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to work with children with disabilities.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of general office equipment.
Minimum Experience
- Prior experience working with children.

Physical Demands
- Moderate walking, standing, heavy lifting, and carrying of students up to 53 pounds.

- Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
