The Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development provides comprehensive administrative support to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development. This position plays a key role in the efficient operation of the Office of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development, handling a wide variety of tasks including scheduling correspondence and project management.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically savvy, detail-oriented, high energy, and able to work independently while handling multiple priorities. The incumbent works concurrently in multiple areas of responsibility, initiatives, and issues while assisting the Vice Chancellor with identifying and meeting often unforeseen requests and deadlines.
This position provides coordination between the VCAAWD, the Chancellors Office, Executive Team, Chancellors Cabinet Members, and other internal and external contacts. This position also coordinates the activities of the Office of the VCAAWD while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

As part of their commitment to maintaining a community free of discrimination and in compliance with Title IXs mandate, institutions of the Southern University System shall address allegations of power-based violence and sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, in a timely and effective manner. Further, institutions of the Southern University System will provide resources as needed for affected persons, Reporters, Complainants, Respondents, and third parties within the institutions community and will not tolerate retaliation against any person who reports or participates in the investigation of alleged power-based violence or sex/gender discrimination.
In accordance with the requirement of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and its Amending Act of 2008, collectively ADA, the Southern University System shall not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities. The System does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA.
