Job Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Manages and coordinates economic development assistance efforts for entrepreneurs to facilitate expansion of existing businesses, creating new businesses, and development of business opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Consulting - Entrepreneurial Ownership-Focused Guidance: Assists assigned clients by providing expert guidance and consultation on strategic positioning. Aids clients in the development of a sustainable competitive advantage. Assists with the development of individualized project feasibility assessments, and consults regarding access to capital. Actively listens to client needs in order to cater consultation to individual small business plans.
30% - Essential - Consulting - Entrepreneurial Management-Focused Guidance: Provides expert guidance and consultation to assigned clients in regard to ongoing operational management tasks aligned with the functional aspects of the clients specific business model. Provides expert counsel regarding a variety of common functional components of small businesses, including marketing and sales, operations, finance, human resources, and bookkeeping/accounting. Follows-up as needed with clients to ensure ongoing client success.
20% - Essential - Non-Consulting - Seminars and Public Relations: Plans and participates in business seminars relating to all aspects of business planning and operations. Assists other economic development allies with coordination and delivery of seminars and programs. Promotes services of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) through public media. Speaks to classes at public and private educational facilities of the services offered by the SBDC. Encourages media publication of SBDC services and assists them in gathering information for publication.
20% - Essential - Non-Consulting - Professional Development and Office Administration: Successfully obtains minimally required professional development credits annually. Engages with Region/Statewide network teammates and select partners to optimize support resources aligned with the small business sector. Stays abreast of current market conditions in support of clients. Supervises others as assigned. Provides monthly/quarterly/special reports and additional office administration tasks, as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Education - 1st Bachelors Degree
Work Exp 1+ years in business management, public administration, or administrative services.
Preferred Qualifications
Education - 1st Masters Degree - MBA or Comparable
Work Exp 3+ years related experience
