Southwest High School is seeking a Show Choir Assistant Director for the 2026-27 school year. The primary goal of the Show Choir Assistant Director is to assist the Show Choir Director with creating artistic and inspirational musical productions through organization, musical creativity, and teamwork to help students learn the art of entertaining through musical performances.

Examples of Specific Responsibilities:

Assists the Show Choir Director with the following:

  • Schedule and conduct tryouts.
  • Organize performances/rehearsals before or after school, securing areas, and times.
  • Select, purchase, distribute and teach appropriate music.
  • Select props and costumes.
  • Ensure that everything is ready before students arrive and maintain supervision until all students have left all rehearsals and performance sessions.
  • Arrange for and supervise moving and storage of equipment.
  • Participate in three performances throughout the year one of which must be an adjudicated performance. (i.e. WSMA solo/ensemble, show choir competition, etc.)
  • Seek approval of building principal for students' excusals from class and/or school.
  • Provide building principals with advance notice (5 days whenever possible) of all public performances.

Working Conditions:

  • Plans with others to determine how organizationally to best meet the needs of those serviced.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to continuously changing situations.
  • Work involves travel within the District.
