Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sous Chef / Pitmaster to lead morning prep operations and support daily kitchen execution. This role is ideal for someone passionate about barbecue, food quality, and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and season meats for smoking according to established recipes and standards
- Operate and monitor smokers, grills, and kitchen equipment during morning hours
- Execute daily prep tasks including trimming meats, making rubs, sauces, and sides
- Maintain proper food safety and sanitation practices at all times
- Assist with inventory management, receiving deliveries, and stock rotation
- Support the Head Chef/Pitmaster with kitchen organization and workflow
- Ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or pitmaster preferred
- Knowledge of barbecue techniques (smoking, wood selection, temperature control) is a plus
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently during early shifts
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
Schedule:
- Morning shifts (AM prep; start time may vary)
- Weekend availability preferred
