Position Title: Sophomore Class Council Club Sponsor

Reports To: Dr. Joaquin Stephenson

Club Description: Class Council is the student-led governing body dedicated to representing our grade, building school spirit, and creating unforgettable high school memories. Council members work collaboratively to plan and execute major school milestones, including Homecoming and Prom. Beyond dance planning, the council spearheads vital fundraising campaigns to lower event costs and organizes meaningful community service projects that allow our class to give back. Joining Class Council is a fantastic way to develop leadership, event-planning, and budgeting skills while leaving a lasting legacy at our school.

Position Summary:

The Class Council of 2028 is dedicated to building school spirit, creating memorable events, and representing the voices of our class. We work together to plan and organize activities that unite students, promote pride, and support our community.

  • Completion of district-required background checks and trainings
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills

  • Ensure all club activities adhere to district and school guidelines
  • Attend meetings, events, and fundraisers associated with the club
  • Communicate regularly with staff and students
  • Centering student voice in order to facilitate positive change at HPHS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Golden Gala:

One of our signature events, the Golden Gala is an elegant evening where we celebrate our class in style. Council members help with everything from planning the theme and decorations to ticket sales and set-up.

Homecoming Fundraising:

We raise funds through creative and engaging activities to support our class's participation in Homecoming. This helps cover costs for decorations, supplies, and spirit events.

Paint the Town Blue:

A fun tradition where we show our school pride by decorating local businesses and public spaces in our school colors. It's a great way to bring the community together and get everyone excited for Homecoming!

Hallway Decorating (Homecoming Week):

We transform our class hallway into a themed, spirited space as part of the Homecoming competition. It's a team effort that showcases our creativity and school pride.

Additional Activities:

We also support pep rallies, spirit weeks, volunteer opportunities, and other events that promote involvement and unity within the Class of 2028.

Pie in the face:

Sophomore class council leads the pie in the face fundraiser for HP Charity Drive.

Work Schedule

  • All school year
  • Meetings are weekly, based on student schedules

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Student Activities Director in accordance with district policies.
