Major Food Group is hiring an experienced and qualified Sommelier to join our team at Carbone Dallas!
Major Food Group is hiring a passionate and experienced Sommelier with a strong work ethic to help set and maintain the highest standards of service and professionalism.
Carbone is an Italian-American restaurant created by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick. The restaurant pays homage to the essence of the great Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century New York. The food nods to that history, but takes its culinary cues from the great talents and techniques of the present and future. Familiar dishes like Seafood Salad, Linguini Vongole, Lobster Fra Diavola, Chicken Scarpariello and Veal Parmesan elevated to a new level.
Carbone Vino, located just across the courtyard, is a new concept from Major Food Group celebrating timeless artisanship and the most coveted wines of Italy complete with a 6-thousand bottle capacity wine cellar. The menu features an extensive selection of handmade pastas, Sicilian pizzas, signature entrées like spicy rigatoni and friend veal chop, and fresh gelato served table-side.
Responsibilities:

Enhancing service by directly executing wine service to guests in a fast paced, fine-dining setting.

Cultivate & maintain knowledge of wine selections available (1,000+ wine selections on our list).

Cellar management, including stocking wine orders, and maintaining cleanliness & organization.
Executing beverage training & continuing education for other members of the FOH team.
Performs work assignments directed by beverage management, along with executing other service-related assignments during meal service periods.

Knowledgeable of and adherence to food and beverage department regulations and procedures.
*
Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
*
Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Experience as a Sommelier in an upscale, high volume restaurant (fine-dining experience preferred)
CMS or WSET Certifications or equivalent from another accredited wine institution (CMS Certified or Advanced preferred)
Extensive knowledge of wine and proper wine service techniques
Availability to work nights, weekends & holidays (this is a full-time position)
Positive attitude and "guest-first" mindset
A passion for providing exemplary guest service
Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
Clean and organized working habits
A commitment to learning and continuous improvement
Ability to think quickly on your feet and multi-task with ease
Ability to lift 30+ pounds
