CDOC Architect I (Colorado Springs)

This position is open only to Colorado state residents.
Description of Job:
This position will perform professional services to include project management, master planning, facility programming, regulatory agency approvals, design guidelines, construction standards, construction budgeting, contractor/consultant selection, code compliance reviews, design reviews, ensures compliance with legislative intent, as well as a leading role in coordination with private sector design consultants and coordination of engineering disciplines for "in-house" projects.
The primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Conceive, develop, and has "on-point" responsibility in the detailing of new projects, including Capital Construction, Controlled Maintenance, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Life Safety.
- Advise Project Representatives and Project Managers in resolution of project problems.
- Lead private sector design teams by interpreting the program/space requirements of various projects and reviews Schematic Design, Design Development, and Contract Documents to ensure compliance with design program and budget.
- Provide quality assurance for new project requests ensuring design parameters are consistent with existing Department guidelines and standards, and with legislative intent.
- Establish strategic planning and Facilities Master Plan. Leads responsibility for implementing and maintaining the physical plant record for the Department.
- Develop site and Office of Primary Responsibility specific facility master plans.
- Research and write facility program plans and collaborate with private sector design professionals to assure compliance with the design program and construction management.
- Prepare and evaluate requests for qualifications/proposals for professional services.
- Coordinate end users' wants and needs with overall Department strategic plan to assist the design teams in producing a project that can be justified and ultimately receive the appropriation necessary to implement.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure:
Current, valid license as an Architect by the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. Please attach a copy of this required license to your application.

- Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind.
