PGS Worldwide is seeking a Solder and Mechanical Operator in Oldsmar, Florida for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This onsite position supports the end-to-end assembly of printed circuit cards in a production environment. The role includes soldering, mechanical assembly, inspection, testing, traceability, and continuous improvement activities while maintaining quality, reliability, and safety standards.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in soldering and mechanical assembly of circuit cards in military, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing
  • Proficiency with hand soldering, wave soldering, and reflow equipment
  • Experience applying solder paste, flux, and alloys according to engineering drawings and IPC standards
  • Experience with mechanical assembly of circuit cards, including installation of mounts, brackets, heat sinks, and connectors
  • Familiarity with torque specifications and calibrations
  • Basic understanding of IPC standards
  • Ability to perform visual inspection of solder joints and mechanical fit
  • Ability to perform functional tests such as continuity and power-up checks
  • Ability to complete work orders, lot tracking sheets, and production documentation
  • Ability to log equipment parameters, material lot numbers, and test results in MES
  • Strong attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Ability to stand for 8+ hours, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repeated fine-motor tasks
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to pass a required medical exam

Preferred Skills

  • Technical training
  • IPC-610 or IPC-2221 awareness
  • Soldering certification
  • Experience with SMT and through-hole components
  • Knowledge of printed circuit board materials and handling
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMM
  • Familiarity with SPC and MES or ERP data entry
  • Team-oriented mindset and good communication skills

What You’ll Do

  • Perform manual hand soldering, wave soldering, and reflow processes on circuit boards
  • Apply solder paste, flux, and alloys according to drawings and standards
  • Monitor soldering equipment and make adjustments as needed
  • Install mechanical components using hand tools, torque wrenches, and pneumatic fixtures
  • Align and secure components to maintain dimensional tolerances
  • Conduct visual and AOI inspection of solder joints and mechanical fit
  • Perform continuity and power-up testing and record results
  • Document non-conformances and support corrective actions
  • Complete production and traceability documentation in MES
  • Participate in Kaizen, 5S, root-cause analysis, and process improvement efforts
  • Maintain a clean workstation and follow EHS, PPE, and internal quality requirements

Work Schedule / Shift

  • Monday through Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM EST
  • Overtime available on weekends
