    Software Engineer - Team Lead/Front End - 12+ yrs of Experience - TS/SCI w/Poly Required


    Halogen Engineering Group is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team who can support Nightwing CODEX, directly meeting mission-critical needs in partnership with mission customers. This individual will lead a team of UI developers, designing front-end architecture and coding standards while remaining hands-on in development across the full software product lifecycle in an agile environment. Responsibilities span analyzing user requirements to derive design and performance standards, developing and debugging software, integrating systems, and implementing algorithms to meet performance goals. The ideal candidate has front end experience, translates UX/UI designs into accessible, production-ready interfaces, and mentors junior developers while collaborating closely with system engineers and product stakeholders to resolve technical problem areas.

    Salary Range

    The projected compensation range for this position is 235K-242K (annualized USD).

    Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

    Capabilities
    • Lead and mentor a team of UI/front-end developers, providing technical guidance, standards, and code review
    • Architect and implement scalable, maintainable front-end solutions using modern frameworks
    • Translate prototypes and design specifications into functional, responsive, and accessible interfaces
    • Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs, ensuring efficient data flow between front-end and back-end systems
    • Contribute to full-stack development efforts as needed, including backend services, database interactions, and deployment pipelines
    • Establish and enforce front-end coding standards, best practices, and component reuse across the team
    • Partner with UX/UI and systems engineers to ensure design intent is preserved through implementation
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, cross-browser issues, and technical debt
    • Participate in sprint planning, technical estimation, and architectural decision-making
    • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) throughout development


    Requirements


    Required Skills

    Proven experience leading or mentoring a development team
    Strong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and standard web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
    Full-stack experience, including backend development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, RESTful/GraphQL API design
    Experience with state management, component-based architecture, and responsive design
    Familiarity with version control (Git) CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GovCloud is a plus)
    Experience working closely with UX/UI and systems engineers to ensure accurate implementation of accessible interfaces
    Experience working with tiered architectural systems and in a Linux/Ubuntu environment is a plus

    14. Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
    15. Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products
    16. Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
    17. Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
    18. Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
    19. Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
    20. Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects
    21. Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams
    22. Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering
    23. Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software
    24. Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance

    Qualifications

    • Twelve (12) years' experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. 
    • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
    • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelors degree. 
    • Seven (7) years' experience in Software Database and Repository Interface Development​
