Software Engineer (Supply Chain Systems)

About the role
This is a hybrid position working from our Legacy West Support Center in Plano, Texas. As a Software Engineer, you will turn business needs into scalable warehouse‑management solutions. You will translate operational requirements into precise Jira stories, build and enhance features within the Manhattan Active WM platform, and configure MAWM workflows that demonstrate real value through functional POCs. Develop end‑to‑end reporting using Cognos and Jasper to deliver real‑time operational visibility. Validate vendor releases to ensure platform stability and compatibility, and you work within GCP to manage cloud integrations that keep data flowing seamlessly between warehouses, carriers, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Technical Writing: Ability to translate "business talk" into clear, actionable requirements in Jira.
- Development & Platform Enhancements: Work alongside senior developers to design and build custom enhancements within the Manhattan Active WM platform to meet unique business needs.
- WMS Configuration & POCs: Master the functional side of MAWM. You will configure system flows, build Proof of Concepts (POCs), and present these digital workflows to our business community.
- Reporting & Data Visualization: Own the end-to-end reporting lifecycle. You will develop and enhance operational reports using Cognos and Jasper Reports to provide real-time visibility in warehouse performance.
- Vendor Release Testing: Assist in the technical validation and testing of enhancements or fixes provided by Manhattan Associates. You will ensure that platform updates integrate correctly with our existing configurations and business processes.
- Cloud & Integration: Work within GCP to manage and troubleshoot data integration patterns, ensuring real-time communication between the warehouse, carriers, and customers.
- Production Support: Act as a technical first-responder for priority production issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting to keep the distribution centers running.
- Multi-Platform Evolution: While your initial focus is WMS, you will progressively take on projects involving Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other integrated logistics applications
Knowledge, skills & abilities requirements
The Technical Foundation:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Programming: Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, Python, or C#).
- SQL & Databases: Advanced SQL skills are essential. You must be able to write complex queries for data analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Cloud Knowledge: Foundational understanding of Cloud Architecture (specifically GCP).
The "Value-Add"
- Reporting Tools: Experience with (or interest in) Cognos and Jasper Reports.
- Testing Mindset: A disciplined approach to software testing and quality assurance, especially when validating vendor patches.
- Logistics Interest: A curiosity about how goods move globally, from Warehouse Management (WMS) to Transportation Management (TMS).

Working conditions & physical requirements
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
