Job Description: The Software Engineer III at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in New York, NY will design and build REST APIs aligned with Business Domain Driven Architecture (BDDA). Design and build Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Cloud (IaC) platforms including Terraform. Design and set up Gitlab Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for microservices and micro applications. Perform code reviews to ensure code quality and promote coding best practices. Design and structure database tables to store data in both SQL and NoSQL technologies. Ensure system security by resolving vulnerabilities and publishing documentation which can be easily followed by others facing similar issues. Actively participate in scrum ceremonies including stand up, refinement, planning and retrospective and groom technical stories for team. Containerize microservices and applications using Kubernetes and deploy to test and production environments. Ensure design patterns being leveraged align with company and industry standards. Contribute to unit testing using Junit and Mockito to ensure microservices have highest level of test coverage possible. Implement version control using Git to ensure code is documented appropriately. Design, develop and deploy scalable AI and machine learning solutions to enhance claims processing while also collaborating with data scientists and product teams to integrate these solutions in claims platform. Participate in workshops and planning sessions with business, product stake holders along with Enterprise Architects for technology Roadmap. Telecommuting permitted 3 days per week. Salary $160,805- $202,150 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field and 1 year (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years) of experience as a software engineer or related occupation. Experience must include at least 1 year of experience with each of the following: (1) developing and leading solution delivery using Scrum and Agile methods; (2) delivering high-quality software systems and engineering complex systems in the FinTech space; (3) resolving technical blockers related to creating AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and back-end development; (4) SQL technologies including PostgreSQL and MySQL, as well as NoSQL technologies including DynamoDB; (5) Refinement and review of test strategy and test cases, as well as unit testing and automation testing frameworks to avoid bug leakages and uplift code quality; and (6) deploying, monitoring, and maintaining microservices and applications using CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud platforms including AWS.
