The Software Engineer II works independently on moderately complex software development projects and collaborates with product, quality assurance, operations, and engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions. Kastle's integrated security solution, including access control, video, and remote video monitoring, significantly reduces costs and improves the critically important 24x7 performance for building owners, developers and tenants.

Kastle Systems is seeking a Software Engineer II – Full Stack to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting the company's Security-as-a-Service platform. The position requires applying software engineering principles to develop scalable applications, APIs, and integrations that support customer-facing and internal business systems.

 

The Software Engineer II works independently on moderately complex software development projects and collaborates with product, quality assurance, operations, and engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions.

Responsibilities:

Application Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack software applications.
• Develop software solutions using technologies including C#, .NET, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL Server, and related frameworks.
• Build and maintain web applications supporting internal and customer-facing business functions.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Create reusable software components and services.

Database and Integration Development

• Design and maintain database objects, queries, stored procedures, and data models.
• Develop integrations between enterprise systems and cloud-based applications.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, and database issues.

Software Quality and Reliability

• Perform unit testing and participate in integration and system testing activities.
• Participate in peer code reviews.
• Analyze and resolve software defects.
• Support software deployments and post-production issue resolution.

Cloud and Platform Support

• Develop applications deployed within cloud environments including AWS and Azure.
• Support containerized application deployments and CI/CD processes.
• Participate in troubleshooting application performance and scalability issues.

Collaboration

• Participate in Agile software development activities including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, quality engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Other Eligibility Requirements:

• Education

  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

  Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience developing enterprise or commercial software applications.
• Experience working throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Technical Skills

Experience with:

• C# and .NET development
• JavaScript and/or TypeScript
• SQL Server and relational database development
• RESTful API design and development
• Object-oriented programming principles
• Source control systems such as Git
• Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Software testing and debugging methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React, Angular, or similar frontend frameworks
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containerization technologies
• Experience supporting high-availability distributed systems
• Familiarity with IoT-connected platforms or cloud-based service applications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to analyze and solve moderately complex technical problems.
• Ability to work independently with general supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
