    Description

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon"s unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers" businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon"s real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

On Agentic WorkSpaces, our vision is to enable AI agents to work the way humans do - with access to real applications, real interfaces, and real computing environments. We"re building foundational infrastructure that allows autonomous agents to securely provision, interact with, and manage computing sessions at scale. Our work sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, agentic AI, and security, and directly shapes how the next generation of AI agents will operate in enterprise environments.

We"re looking for an SDE II who can ramp quickly, deliver features end-to-end, and operate comfortably in codebases they didn"t write. This is a new team building new capabilities on top of established AWS infrastructure - you"ll extend existing services to new platforms, integrate with partner systems, and ship features that expand what our product can do. The pace is high and the work is feature-heavy. We intentionally build for low operational burden so the team can stay focused on shipping. The team is small enough that your work goes to production fast and visibly. If you like owning features from design through production and you"re energized by learning new systems quickly, this team is for you.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own features end-to-end: design, implement, test, deploy, and operate in production
    • Extend our platform across operating systems and runtime environments (Linux, Windows, different application stacks)
    • Build and operate services that handle unpredictable, bursty workloads using AWS scaling primitives
    • Navigate and integrate with unfamiliar codebases
    • Collaborate with engineers on adjacent teams to unblock dependencies and align on interfaces
    • Contribute to operational excellence: oncall, runbooks, alarms, and incident response

    A day in the life

Your mornings are usually free for focus work - writing code, reviewing CRs, and working through whatever problem you"ve picked up. Around 11 you"ll have standup, then grab lunch with the team (if you like) before the afternoon opens up for integration work, cross-team syncs, or design reviews. The team is small, so you"ll know what everyone is working on, and when something breaks, the whole team rallies. Our pipelines are full CD, our ticket queue is small, and when something pages us we fix the root cause - not just the symptom. We encourage responsible AI usage across our development workflow - it"s one way our small team moves fast. The problems are interesting and the pace is high, but we believe we can move fast, do exceptional work, and have a full life outside of it.

We"re a small team building two greenfield projects within Agentic WorkSpaces. We"re moving fast enough that our team name is still taking shape - but our engineering culture is well established.

    Why AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. Work/Life Balance

We value work-life harmony. Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why flexible work hours and arrangements are part of our culture. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there's nothing we can't achieve in the cloud.

Here at AWS, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Our employee-led affinity groups foster a culture of inclusion that empower us to be proud of our differences. Ongoing events and learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity and AmazeCon conferences, inspire us to never stop embracing our uniqueness.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
