SOF Systems Software Programmer

Location: Tallahassee, Florida (On-site)

Pay Rate: $45-60 / hr

Role Overview

We are seeking a Systems Software Programmer to support the State of Florida's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing the Registration Tracking System (RTS), a platform used to manage pesticide registration data and regulatory processes. The position supports the Division of Agricultural and Environmental Services and works with internal IT teams to improve system functionality, stability, and integration capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, bug fixes, and enhancements to the RTS database and application.
  • Ensure ongoing operability and performance of the RTS system.
  • Develop and improve integrations, including web service connections to document management systems.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Agriculture Technology and other agency stakeholders.
  • Document all development work including requirements, design changes, and implementation plans.
  • Provide weekly documentation and status updates detailing system changes and enhancements.
  • Create and execute test plans for new and modified functionality prior to deployment.
  • Maintain proper code documentation and change logs for all updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Oracle WebForm.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in programming in Toad or SQL+.
  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented development techniques is required.
  • Experience working in a multi-development group is required.
  • Demonstrated 3 years of experience working with RTS application components is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and user staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle 11g RDBMS.
  • Familiarity with state government systems or regulatory applications.
  • Experience integrating with document management platforms.

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a Level 2 background check.
  • Will be required to sign confidentiality and data use agreements.
  • Must complete security and ethics training upon onboarding.

Work Environment

  • This position is fully on-site in Tallahassee, FL.
  • Full-time hours are expected, though the exact schedule will be coordinated with the client.
  • Work is supervised by agency technical leadership and must adhere to all agency standards and procedures.
