The SEL & Math Specialist is a push-in instructional specialist responsible for delivering high-quality Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Mathematics curriculum to children across all classrooms — Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Pre-K Students. This role serves as a critical bridge between classroom instruction and whole-child development, using data-driven practices to support student growth in alignment with Cloud Early Pathways. The SEL & Math Specialist plans and delivers developmentally appropriate lessons, coordinates with Lead Teachers, maintains detailed documentation, and collaborates closely with the Educational Director to ensure all children receive consistent, high-quality SEL and mathematics support.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Curriculum & Instruction
• Deliver SEL lessons using Second Step and ED-provided curriculum across all assigned classrooms.
• Deliver Math activities using Teaching Strategies GOLD and ED-provided curriculum across all assigned classrooms.
• Plan all lessons during the embedded 1-hour Planning Block (9:30–10:30 AM) each day.
• Post all lesson activities and materials on Playground App a minimum of one week in advance.
• Ensure lessons are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with Cloud Early Pathways and program goals.
• Maintain consistent lesson pacing — all push-in sessions are 15–20 minutes in duration.
• Coordinate lesson timing and delivery with classroom Lead Teachers to support (not disrupt) existing routines.
2. Data, Assessment & Reporting
• Observe and document individual student progress during all push-in sessions.
• Enter assessment data and observational notes into the Playground App on a regular, ongoing basis.
• Compile and submit student data reports to the Educational Director as requested.
• Use data to inform lesson planning and identify students needing additional support or intervention.
• Participate in data review meetings with the Educational Director as scheduled.
3. Playground App & Documentation
• Post all planned activities, lessons, and student updates on the Playground App minimum one week prior to delivery.
• Maintain up-to-date records of lessons delivered, student observations, and intervention notes.
• Ensure all Playground App documentation is clear, professional, and family-facing ready.
4. Classroom Coverage
• Cover classrooms daily
• Supervise Family Style Eating; model table manners and positive mealtime conversation.
• Lead and actively supervise outdoor play; ensure child safety at all times.
5. Operations & Supplies
• Identify and report supply needs to the Operations team.
• All supply requests must receive Educational Director approval prior to submission to Operations.
• Maintain an organized inventory of curriculum materials and manipulatives.
6. Health, Safety & OCFS Compliance
• Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times when providing classroom coverage.
• Actively supervise children indoors and outdoors; never leave children unattended.
• Follow all sanitation, hygiene, and safety procedures.
• Report incidents and safety concerns promptly to the Educational Director.
7. Family Engagement & Communication
• Post lesson activities and student highlights on the Playground App for family visibility.
• Communicate professionally and responsively with families as needed.
• Support a culturally responsive, inclusive environment that honors all families.
8. Professional Responsibilities
• Arrive on time and fully prepared for all scheduled sessions.
• Communicate proactively and professionally with the Educational Director and Lead Teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality of all student and family information at all times.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required training.
• Model positive, nurturing, trauma-informed interactions with children at all times.
